Flickerfest Brings World-Class Cinema to Hervey Bay for 35th Anniversary Celebration

Flickerfest, Australia’s leading short film festival, is set to light up the big screen in Hervey Bay this April as part of its massive 35th-anniversary celebrations. Recognised as the nation’s only Academy® Award and BAFTA qualifying short film festival, Flickerfest returns with a vision to share the most entertaining and innovative short films from Australia and around the world with regional audiences. The highly anticipated ‘Best of Australian Shorts’ programme will feature a red carpet at 6:00 PM and a one-night-only screening at BigScreen Cinemas on Saturday, 18th April at 6:30 PM.

Selected from a remarkable pool of over 3,700 entries, the films featured in the national tour represent the pinnacle of short-form cinema. The Hervey Bay screening offers a unique opportunity for local film lovers to experience these A-list programmes on the big screen before the films continue their journey around the globe. It’s a true celebration of creativity that connects the Fraser Coast community with the wider world of international cinema.

The travelling Flickerfest National Tour is designed to ensure that audiences in regional towns like Hervey Bay can be part of this landmark film festival experience. By bringing the ‘Best of Australian Shorts’ to Hervey Bay, the festival invites our local community to witness the homegrown brilliance shaping Australian culture today.
